LIKE BEENIE MAN, WHO AM I?

My name is Rock and I chose the name TAMA SAMOA STEP to proudly assert my Samoan identity. As Samoans, family is a huge part of our values system, and my parents made sure of that.

Growing up, wherever there was good music, my Mom was singing, moving, and grooving. Where there was a dance floor, you’d find my Mom with my Dad in tow, dropping it low and living her best joyful life. On the other hand, my Dad enjoyed movement in a different way. For as long as I can remember, he's always been active whether it be playing cricket at Crocker Park, hitting the gym almost daily or riding his bike to work.

As an Xtreme Hip-Hop Step Instructor, I get to share the essence of both my parents and foster a sense of community that is deeply important to my Samoan values. I also get to be fun, playful, and talk $#!@ (evil laugh). If you know you know.

When you pull up to a TAMASAMOASTEP class and feel the family vibes, just know that it's intentional and has been cultivated by my culture, my parents, my family, and this growing community of HOT HOT steppers!
